About

Built by me, with oversight of every trade.

I'm Kirsty Merriman, director of Konnected Homes. I oversaw the build of 394B trade by trade, and I have seen it all.

My story

From science to building homes.

I spent seventeen years with Fonterra and its predecessors, working in New Zealand and Malaysia before my family moved to the Arabian Gulf. I trained as a scientist, with a Master of Science in microbiology, and much of my corporate work was product development.

COVID left me stuck in New Zealand, and a one-off project became a new career. My timing was possibly the worst I could have chosen... the market went from slow, to boom, to bust. So I put on steel-capped boots, and studied key post graduate papers to support my construction expertise and ensure the highest quality standards.

Developing a product turned out to be surprisingly similar to developing a house. You find out what people need, design the whole thing around it, then hold the process tight until it is delivered.

Built by me, with oversight

I know who is building every part of this home.

SGP Works is the lead contractor, and I oversee every trade directly. Quality stays under my control, and so does the cost creep that comes with layer upon layer of subcontracting.

I have seen it all: the small observations, the big disputes, and the people who have become my work family. I know where homes go wrong, and I check those things myself.

I have delivered more than 19 homes across Auckland. Seventeen are rated Homestar 6 or 7, and seven are Lifemark 5-Star.

"If something isn't done right, it's fixed. That's my name on the home."

How I build

Homes built responsibly.

Good business is about service. I build the homes my community wants, and these four points sit behind every one.

  • 01

    Architecture that Performs

Low-E glass is incorporated into the uPVC windows to reduce the heat transfer, and 394B's design heat loss of 188 W/°C sits well under the Building Code limit of 288. The rooms stay warmer and the heat pump works less.

  • 02

    Community that Connects

One of four homes on a small Sunnynook site, with a shared drive and garden, minutes from the Northern Busway and the East Coast Bays.

  • 03

    Investment that Saves

Lower heat loss, rainwater for the toilets and washing machine, and timber cladding left to weather keep running and upkeep costs down for as long as you own the home.

  • 04

    Protection that Endures

A Stamford 10-Year Building Warranty underwritten at Lloyd's of London. For the first two years we arrange any repairs, backed by Stamford.

The company

New Boots and Partner Limited, trading as Konnected Homes.

Konnected Homes is the trading name of New Boots and Partner Limited, a New Zealand company. My co-director is a silent partner, and we were both born and grew up in New Zealand's deep south. We build a small number of homes at a time, so the people who design a home are the people who answer for it on site and after handover.

394B East Coast Road is one of four homes on a compact Sunnynook site. This site sets out the specification room by room.
